Funny!

Ha! Will had a work dinner tonight, and I'm bored waiting for him to come home. I Googled myself out of boredom and found my blog. I had totally forgotten that I wrote this one. It is so cheesy! I then saw that I have two followers- Lori and Leah. Thank you both for trying to keep up with my kids. I had really good intentions when I started this blog. At least it was cute for me to read what I had written about Davis and Anna almost a year ago!

First Blog Post

Welcome to Davis and Anna's blog! I've been terrible at maintaining baby books, and I get jealous every time I read other people's blogs about their children, so I thought I'd start one of my own. Through this, I hope to actually keep a record of their milestones and keep friends and family members up to date on their activities. It will even make me take and post pictures! Even those that live in the same city as us don't get to see and hear all the precious things Will and I see on a daily basis. I hope to actually keep it current, but we'll see what happens!

I'll start with a little background information. Davis is currently 21 months old and will be 2 on July 15, 2010. Anna was born on January 15, 2010 and is 3 months old. I think we've finally gotten used to being a family of 4. Even Davis doesn't try to sit on Anna nearly as often as he used to!

Needless to say, Davis was shocked by Anna's birth. His little face looked so confused when he visited us in the hospital. After we brought Anna home, it took him a little time to warm up to her. Even now, Davis has a really hard time understanding the word "gentle." Until recently, he would try to sit on Anna every time I turned my back. A couple weeks ago, I found him trying to ride her like a horse during tummy time! Now, he just likes to hug her while she's swinging in her little travel swing. Unfortunately, that hugging can easily turn into him swishing her with his chubby body. He also loves stretching out next to her when she is on her play mat. I think he's enjoying being a big brother!

Anna is also enjoying Davis being her big brother! Two days ago, Davis poked her while we were reading a book at bedtime, and she laughed for the first time! She also cracked up today while Davis and I were singing his "see saw" song. Whenever Davis rocks in a rocking chair or swings back and forth, he likes to sing a song about being on a see saw that they sing at school. Anna must love the see saw song too! Perhaps she just thought it was fun that we rocked her back and forth while singing it.

Davis has changed so much since Anna's birth. He turned 18 months old the day she was born. I know babies suddenly turn into toddlers around that time, but boy is Davis changing fast! Davis' first words were dog and ball, and he started saying them frequently around 11 months. By his 18 month doctor's appointment, I could count about 12 words he said semi-regularly. Now, I don't have time to count all the words he is saying! He adds new words and phrases to his vocabulary everyday. Yesterday, he surprised me by pointing out a star on Anna's Exersaucer to her. Will and I also died laughing when he ordered Annie to "get down" after she ran up the stairs and into his room. He pointed and said "get down" about 15 times. When she refused to move, he stomped over to the stairs, held the door open, pointed down and emphatically commanded Annie to "GET DOWN!" Finally, she went downstairs and he slammed the door shut, clapped his hands together, and mumbled to himself "get down." It was precious; he seemed SO satisfied when she eventually followed his directions!

Anna is changing quickly, too! She has grown so much over the past few months. Her 4 month check up is on May 17th, and I can't wait to see how much she has grown. Today she almost rolled from her back to her tummy. When I walked into her room this morning, she would have been completely on her tummy, but she couldn't seem to get over her left arm. The same thing happened this afternoon when she was playing on her mat. Who knows, maybe she'll start rolling over soon! Davis wasn't big into rolling over, but Anna seems to be a mover.

Anna loves to coo! Around 2 months, she started saying "goo" whenever I talk to her. Now, we have long conversations. Her end consists of a lot of "goooo" and "coo" and "gaa." I think she's going to be a talker like her brother. I don't know where they get it........

Well, it's getting late, so this is it for the first blog. I will come back soon to post pictures (I've got to download some recent ones first.) The one I posted was taken when Anna was 2 weeks old. Davis had a cold and was all flushed. Since then, Davis' hair has gotten super curly, and Anna's hair has gotten progressively lighter. Will might not have gotten his brunette after all!
